Soo Structures Stability and Emergency Measures Analysis

Contributors

Abstract
Two issues related to the regulation structures in the St. Marys River were examined: the first issue was to assess whether existing structures can be used to increase Lake Superior's outflow during emergency situations, including possible modifications to the structures and constructing a new spillway; the second issue investigated was the ability of the present works to withstand high water levels exceeding the upper limit of Lake Superior regulation and the historical range. The information and findings presented were based on a review of past studies including those of the Lake Superior Board of Control.
