Hydropower Technical Working Group Contextual Narrative

Robert Sinclair;David Patton, Paul King-Fisher, Andrew Punkari, Steve Rose, Peter Yee
A contextual narrative was produced to describe hydropower production using Great Lakes outflows with emphasis on the St. Marys River. Hydropower production is dependent on water levels and flows. The narrative discusses the operations of the three plants in the St. Marys River, the value of their hydropower generation and their role in the regional energy market, and how current and future government regulations may affect operations. Performance indicators were also proposed to be used for evaluating Lake Superior outflow regulation plans.
