Yin Fan has worked
as a Water Resources
Engineer for the IJC and Environment
Canada for more than 6 years. She was
intensely involved in
the work of the Plan Formulation and
Evaluation Group of recently completed IJC Study for the
Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River System (2000-2006).
Dr. Fan
developed and verified the computer programming of many of
the components in the "Shared Vision Model" successfully
used in that study. She also investigated and developed
methods to simulate the flow
distribution in the Lac Des Deux Montagnes-Lac St. Louis
system,
and also a method to estimate
an ice
roughness
factor
in the stage-discharge
relationship
for Lac St. Louis.
Yin developed expertise in the analysis and development of
lake regulation plans in the Lake
Ontario and St. Lawrence River
Study. She recently
co-authored
a
conference paper titled “Hydrologic Scenarios for the
Evaluation of Lake Ontario Outflow Regulation Plans”. From
1994 to 1999, she was employed by the Tecnum Group Inc. as a
project manager and software developer
and previously worked as a research
engineer for
Hydro-Quebec from 1992 to 1994.
