Jonathan
Bulkley serves as Co-Director of the Center for Sustainable
Systems located in the School of Natural Resources and
Environment where he develops life cycle based models and
sustainability metrics to evaluate the performance and to
guide the continuous improvement of systems for meeting
societal needs. He was selected as an AT&T Industrial
Ecology Fellow, where multi-objective planning techniques
and risk reduction concepts served as the basic orientation
for his research efforts. Jonathan was a member of the Michigan
Environmental Science Board, and served as a Special Master
and serves as a Monitor for the
United States District Court for the Eastern District of
Michigan for three water pollution cases. He served as a
Member, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Environmental Advisory
Board, Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army. His research
concentrates on the development and application of both
quantitative and qualitative means to help policy makers and
decision makers attain improved planning, evaluation, and
management of natural resources. Recently, research
interests have expanded to include curriculum development
for effective teaching of sustainability concepts to a wide
range of disciplines.
