Jim Nicholas is the
Director of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Michigan Water
Science Center. Jim has co-authored papers on water
resources at local, state, and regional scales. He has
helped lead recent statewide, regional and bi-national
research efforts to better understand the relationship of
ground water and surface water in support of the Great Lakes
Charter Annex and Michigan legislation. Jim is a member of
the Council of Great Lakes Research Managers, an Observer to
the Great Lakes Commission, and a frequent technical advisor
to the Council of Great Lakes Governors, the International
Joint Commission, and several groups in Michigan.
