Jeff Vito
Jeff Vito currently serves as the City
of Superior’s Director of Economic Development &
Government Affairs.
He has 33 years of municipal public service primarily
in the areas of public works, engineering, and economic
development. Superior (population 27,108) is located on the western tip
of Lake Superior, offering 96 miles of shoreline within the
City proper, and featuring the largest operating port on
Lake Superior.
His expertise and skill set includes
the following:

Seventeen years of experience as the Director of Public
Works, overseeing 11 divisions ranging from Wastewater
operations to Parks, Streets, Sanitation, Landfill and
the planning and administration of all major municipal
construction projects.

Served as Project Manager in developing a 360 slip, $6
million marina in the Superior Bay on a man-made island.
The project involved dredging, site development,
and the installation of docks, a boat launch and a
facilities building.

Successfully completed numerous waterfront projects
including capital improvements at four boat launches and
three fishing piers.

Has a refined knowledge of the
port
of Superior,
the channel depths within the port, dredging operations
and the impact of lake levels on the shipping industry.

Has nurtured key relationships with state and federal
regulatory agencies that conduct environmental review
and permitting for projects.

Provides coordination, planning and the delivery of City
services in the area of economic development.

Serves as the City’s main contact for state of
Wisconsin
and
United States
representatives in developing municipal policy
initiatives.

Active participant at Great Lakes & St. Lawrence Cities
Initiative annual meetings and board meetings (the City
of Superior is a formal member).
Jeff has volunteered his time as a member of the board of
directors of the Superior YMCA and played a leadership role
during two of its capital fund drives.
Jeff is an avid recreational user of
Lake Superior.
