Paul King-Fisher is Senior Program Advisor in the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources’ Renewable Energy Program, responsible for providing advice to support the development of new hydropower and other renewable energy technologies on public lands in Ontario. Prior to joining OMNR in 1985, Paul was a researcher with the Canadian Environmental Law Research Foundation on water and waste management issues. Graduate interdisciplinary studies focused on the biology and economics of commercial fisheries. The plan became the foundation for a new process for water management planning for waterpower in Ontario, for which the team received the Ontario Public Service’s Amethyst Award in 2001. This included providing guidance and support to planning teams on the use of socio-economic analysis and trade-off analysis for more than 50 water management plans around Ontario. Paul was a member of the Plan Formulation and Evaluation Group to the IJC’s International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River water regulation study.
