The data collected by the Study will be in the terabytes (1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes) and therefore will need to
managed effectively and efficiently. This Technical Working Group (TWG) is tasked with developing a plan for the management
of this wealth of information so that it is accessible to all the Study researchers and TWGs. Equally important will be
the need to ensure this information is available for researchers and managers involved in Great Lakes water management
beyond the Study.
The TWG is expected to deliver a completed information management strategy document, including data sharing agreements that allow
distribution of the data and specific steps to ensure compliance with international standards, long term data storage, necessary
management mechanisms and web accessibility. This effort will be an important component of an Adaptive Management Strategy that is
envisioned to continue on into the future.
